Towards Affective Intelligent Tutoring System
This paper presents AITS, an architecture for Affective Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS). In order to promote a more dynamic and flexible communication between the learner and the system, we integrate two adaptive emotional agents in a multi-agent AITS. The first component allows the tutor to express emotions in response to the student’s actions. The second component makes it possible the cap...
متن کاملTowards Computer-Assisted Proof Tutoring
We present a recent application area of the proof assistant Ωmega, the teaching of mathematical proofs within an environment for tutorial dialog. We discuss the design of our dialog system prototype for proof tutoring in the light of the requirements imposed by its potential users. Empirical studies investigating those requirements guide the development of the system.
متن کاملSalvaging the concept of nudge.
In recent years, 'nudge' theory has gained increasing attention for the design of population-wide health interventions. The concept of nudge puts a label on efficacious influences that preserve freedom of choice without engaging the influencees' deliberative capacities. Given disagreements over what it takes genuinely to preserve freedom of choice, the question is whether health influences rely...
متن کاملTowards Intelligent Tutoring in Algorithm Visualization
Algorithm visualization systems have gained much interest lately, but their educational benefits are still under discussion. We plan to improve algorithm visualization by taking it further in the direction of personalized intelligent tutoring. In this paper, we examine pedagogical requirements for algorithm visualization used in intelligent tutoring.
متن کاملTowards Emotion Prediction in Spoken Tutoring Dialogues
Human tutors detect and respond to student emotional states, but current machine tutors do not. Our preliminary machine learning experiments involving transcription, emotion annotation and automatic feature extraction from our human-human spoken tutoring corpus indicate that the spoken tutoring system we are developing can be enhanced to automatically predict and adapt to student emotional states.
